Six Men's Hockey Players Named 2025 AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholars

| By:
ITHACA, N.Y. — Recent Cornell men's hockey graduates Kyler Kovich, Sullivan Mack, Ondrej Psenicka, and Tim Rego, along with rising junior forward Luke Devlin and rising junior defenseman Hoyt Stanley, have been named 2025 AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholars, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) on Wednesday afternoon (July 2).

To qualify for the yearly award, student-athletes must have achieved a 3.75 grade-point average in each semester and participated in at least 40 percent of their team's games. Exceptions were made for players who did not meet the criteria due to injury or serving as a backup goaltender. Schools are also required to be members of the AHCA.

Kovich, who was named an All-American Scholar for the second straight year, had a career year for the Big Red, setting personal bests in goals (5), assists (9), and points (14). He was one of nine Cornell players to appear in all 36 games this past season. His only game-winning goal came in Cornell's regular-season finale against RPI (March 1). He also scored a short-handed, game-tying goal against Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey Championship semifinals in Lake Placid, N.Y. The native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, finished the season with a plus-13 rating, tied for the fourth-highest rating on the team, and won 52.0 percent of his faceoffs (119-of-229).

Mack, a four-time AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar, had a breakout season for Cornell, posting career highs in all three major scoring categories (9-15—24) while playing in 32 of the Big Red's 36 games. He finished his Cornell career with 17 points (6-11—17) over his last 13 games, which included having a career-high three assists against Brown (Feb. 14). The season's highlight was his power-play goal with 10 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 3-3 tie against top-ranked Michigan State in the Toledo Regional semifinal of the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Championship.

In his final collegiate season with the Big Red, Psenicka played in 30 games, setting career highs with 13 assists and 22 points. He matched his single-game high for points with a three-point effort against Clarkson during the ECAC Hockey Championship final in Lake Placid, N.Y. He also had multi-point games against Princeton (Nov. 23) and Yale (March 8), scoring one goal and adding one assist. His goal against Yale in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Championship was the only game-winning goal of the season.

Rego, one of nine players to participate in all 36 games this past season, achieved career highs in all three major scoring categories, recording 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists). He earned Third Team All-ECAC Hockey honors and was selected for the First Team All-Ivy after totaling seven points (two goals, five assists) in all 10 games against Ivy League opponents. Leading all Big Red players with his 16 assists, this marked the 17th time in program history that a defenseman led the team in assists.
Rego registered seven multi-point games during the season, highlighted by multi-assist performances against Quinnipiac (Jan. 18), RPI (Feb. 7), and Boston University (March 29) in the Toledo Regional Final of the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Championship. His two-goal performance against Yale in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Championship marked the fourth time a Cornell defenseman scored multiple goals against the Bulldogs, joining Gordon Lowe (Dec. 13, 1969), Geoff Roeszler (March 7, 1981), and Chris Norton (Jan. 16, 1987). Additionally, Rego scored the overtime game-winning goal against Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey Championship semifinals, finishing with two points and helping the Big Red reach its second straight championship game.

Devlin did not participate in any contests during the 2024-25 season after sustaining a season-ending injury before the season started.

Stanley played in 35 games for a second consecutive season, finishing with career highs in assists (11) and points (13). His only multi-point game of the season was during the opening game of the Desert Hockey Classic against UMass (Jan. 3), where he contributed two assists. He led all Cornell players with 44 blocked shots this season, including five games with at least four blocks, and he absorbed a season-high five shots against Dartmouth (Jan. 25).
