HOUSTON, T.X. – Cornell women's volleyball capped its weekend in Texas with a statement win, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3–1 (25–27, 25–17, 25–14, 25–23) on Saturday afternoon at the Rice Invitational II. The victory lifted the Big Red to 5–5 on the season.

After narrowly dropping the opening set in extra points, Cornell stormed back behind a balanced attack and efficient hitting, finishing the match with a .303 hitting percentage compared to the Islanders' .219.

Senior outside hitter Eliza Konvicka paced the offense with 17 kills and added 10 digs, earning her second double-double of the weekend. Junior middle blocker Ava Bogan delivered a dominant performance in the middle, recording 16 kills on a .577 hitting clip along with five blocks. Sophomore outside Mackenzie Parsons was equally efficient, tallying 13 kills while hitting .545.

Setter Mikayla Gray steered the attack with 45 assists and chipped in 11 digs, while libero Sarita Pomar anchored the defense with a match-high 22 digs. Cornell finished with six service aces, led by Konvicka's three, and out-blocked the Islanders 7–5.

The Big Red controlled the second and third sets, holding the Islanders to just 14 kills combined, before grinding out a back-and-forth fourth frame to clinch the match. Cornell's poise in tight points made the difference, as the team closed with consecutive kills from Meghan Gaffigan and Konvicka.

Cornell hits the court again next week to open Ivy League play vs. Columbia at Jonathan Schiller Court at Francis S. Levien Gymnasium.
