ITHACA, N.Y. –
CJ Kirst '25 has been selected to represent the United States on the Men's Sixes National Team for upcoming international competition, as announced by head coach Andy Shay and USA Lacrosse on Monday.
A total of 24 players were selected to attend a three-day training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters from Sept. 23-25. The training camp comes ahead of two major sixes international competitions this fall where the U.S. National Team will be represented by two different 12-man teams.
Kirst was one of 12 players named to the USA roster for World Lacrosse Super Sixes in Oshawa, Ontario, scheduled for Oct. 10-12. He will play alongside his brother, Connor Kirst, while Colin Kirst will dawn the Red, White & Blue for the Atlas Cup Sept. 24-26 in Spraks, Md. Both tournaments serve as preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will feature the sixes discipline of lacrosse.
On Saturday, Sep. 6, Kirst became the fifth player all-time to be selected first overall in both outdoor (PLL/MLL) and box (NLL) lacrosse drafts, as he was selected No. 1 overall by the Toronto Rock in the NLL Draft. He was also picked No. 1 overall by the Philadelphia Waterdogs in the PLL Draft last Spring.
The Cornell graduate and NCAA all-time leading scorer, led the Big Red to its first NCAA lacrosse championship in 48 years in 2024 and became the third Cornell player to win the prestigious Tewaaraton Trophy as college lacrosse's top player. Kirst tied the NCAA Division I single-season record with 82 goals while setting school and Ivy League marks with 115 points in 2025.
The two-time Ivy League Player of the Year scored six goals in Cornell's championship game victory over Maryland, earning tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. He finished his career as the NCAA's all-time leader in goals scored with 247, breaking the previous record of 224. His 345 career points rank 10th in Division I history.
In his four seasons at Cornell, Kirst helped lead the Big Red to four Ivy League titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances, two national championship games and one NCAA title. The team posted a 52-15 overall record during his tenure.
Kirst was a four-time All-American at Cornell, including first-team honors in each of his final three seasons. He was twice named Ivy League and ECAC Player of the Year (2023, 2025) and was a Tewaaraton Trophy finalist in both seasons.
The U.S. Men's Sixes National Team will conduct a three-day training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., from Sept. 23-25 before competing in the Atlas Cup (Sept. 24-26) and World Lacrosse Super Sixes tournaments.
