Fiegen Scores Career-High 33 in 102-91 Loss to Dartmouth

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Dartmouth improved to 2-0 in Ivy play for the first time since 1999 after pulling away from Cornell in the second half for a 102-91 victory on Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena. The Big Green improved to 8-7 (2-0 Ivy), while the Big Red fell to 7-8 (0-2 Ivy).

The Big Green placed five players in double figures and shot nearly 56 percent from the floor, hitting 14 3-pointers and turning the ball over just five times. Those extra possessions made the difference, along with its defense against the Big Red's top weapon, the 3-point shot. The home team made just 9-of-32 shots from beyodn the arc (28 percent) while shooting 47 percent themselves.

Senior Jake Fiegen paced Cornell with a career-high 33 points, shooting 12-of-20 from the field and 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. He added six rebounds and two assists. Classmate Cooper Noard added 26 points, including a perfect 9-for-9 effort at the free-throw line, with four assists and three rebounds. Senior Josh Baldwin was the team's third double-figure scorer with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots off the bench, while senior Adam Hinto had nine points, six rebounds and six assists before fouling out. The Big Red shot 48 percent overall from the floor, including 22-of-33 from insde the arc (67 percent). Cornell assisted on 22 baskets and were 20-of-24 from the free-throw line.

Jayden Williams led Dartmouth with 24 points, knocking down 7-of-12 from 3-point range, while Connor Amundsen added 23 points and 10 assists. Brandon Mitchell-Day posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, while Jackson Munro and Niko Abusara each had 13. It was the first time Dartmouth opened a year 2-0 in Ivy play with back-to-back road wins since 1960.

Dartmouth led 55–51 at halftime after a strong opening 20 minutes highlighted by perimeter shooting and interior efficiency. The visitors opened the game with an early burst to build a 14-point advantage (34-20), but Cornell responded behind Fiegen and Noard to keep the contest tight, trimming the margin to four at the break after Fiegen converted a three-point play right before halftime.

Cornell briefly grabbed momentum early in the second half, taking a 59–55 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers from Fiegen and Noard. Dartmouth answered immediately, hitting 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to reclaim the lead. The Big Green steadily widened the gap midway through the half, using ball movement and timely shooting to extend the lead to double digits. A 3-pointer by Williams at the 6:35 mark pushed Dartmouth ahead 88–77 and eventually separated themselves out to an 18-point bulge and maintained control the rest of the way.
