ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell men's indoor track and field team turned in a strong showing Saturday at the Southern Tier Invite inside Barton Hall, producing several all-time program marks and solid performances across the full slate of events.
Sophomore Panashe Nhenga highlighted the day on the track, moving into 10th place on Cornell's all-time list in the 300-meter dash with a standout performance in the event with a time of 34.74 seconds. In the hurdles, senior Ryder King continued his climb up the record book, bettering his own No. 4 all-time mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.9 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Joe Seib delivered a notable performance in the shot put, vaulting into eighth place on Cornell's indoor all-time list with a distance of 17.21 meters as part of a productive day for the Big Red throws group.
Cornell showed depth throughout the meet, with athletes competing in every event on the schedule, including sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance, relays and field events. The balanced effort marked another positive step early in the indoor season.
Saturday's competition served as the second meet of the year for the Big Red. Cornell will return to action next Saturday, January 17, when it hosts the Upstate Challenge at Barton Hall.
