NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team dropped a 195.5-104.5 decision to Yale on Saturday at Kiphuth Exhibition Pool. Cornell collected several individual event wins and strong finishes across swimming and diving events.
Cornell placed third in the 400 medley relay as
Pietro Ubertalli,
Haihan Xu,
Daniel Simoes, and
Jacques Grove finished in 3:13.92. Ubertalli won the 100 back in 47.90 and followed with a victory in the 200 back, touching in 1:44.09. Xu captured the 100 breast in 53.61 and later won the 200 breast in 1:57.79. Grove earned a win in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:46.07.
Additional scoring performances included
Will Chen placing second in the 200 free (1:37.69) and
Gabe Anagnoson finishing second in the 200 IM (1:49.10), followed by Xu in third (1:51.82) and Chen in fourth (1:51.93).
Julian Correa placed second in the 500 free (4:27.53), while
Duke Garvin finished fourth (4:35.61).
Josh Toothman recorded a second-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 20.11.
In diving,
Max Reis-Trovillion placed fourth on the 3-meter board with a score of 314.48, while
William Klingensmith finished sixth (284.40). Reis-Trovillion added a third-place finish on the 1-meter board, scoring 309.90. Cornell closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay as Toothman, Simoes, Grove, and Ubertalli combined for a time of 1:21.19.

The Cornell men's swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Saturday, January 24th against Columbia. The Big Red and the Lions will begin competition at 12:00 noon at Percy Urus Natatorium.
