ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown's Grace Arnolie scored a game-high 27 points to lead Brown to a 64-48 win over Cornell, snapping the Big Red's three-game win streak Saturday afternoon in Ivy League women's basketball action from Newman Arena. The Bears improve to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in Ivy League action, while Cornell moves to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Junior
Rachel Kaus led Cornell with 13 points, going 4-for-7 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line, adding five rebounds. Junior
Clarke Jackson contributed 11 points with four boards and two assists, while first-year guard
Trinity Jones added 10 points off the bench. Senior
Emily Pape finished with a team-high six boards, to go with seven points. As a team, Cornell shot 31.4 percent from the field and 15.8 percent from 3-point range, and 86.7 percent from three.
Arnolie finished the game shooting 10-for-20 from the floor and 7-for-13 from beyond the arc. Alyssa Moreland added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Ada Anamekwe contributed seven points, four boards and three assists. The Bears shot 45.6 percent from the field, including 36.0 percent from the perimeter.
Cornell briefly led 6-2 getting early baskets from Kaus, Pape, and
Paige Engels, in the first four minutes of the contest. However, Brown would respond with a pair of threes to take a 8-6 lead which grew to 14-9 by the end of the quarter as the Bears ended the quarter on a 12-3 run.
After Cornell tied the game at 14-14 to start the second, the Bears connected on three-straight 3-pointers over the next minute and a half to take a 23-16 advantage. The Brown lead bloomed to double-digits, 31-21, with less than a minute to go in the first half, before Jones ended the opening 20-minutes with a layup, giving the freshman seven first-half points.
Cornell made its first two shots of the third quarter to make it a 32-27 contest, but Brown quickly regained their advantage with an 8-0 run over the next 1:36, going 3-for-4 from the field as a team. The Big Red would make a pair field goals the remainder of the quarter as Brown took a 49-31 into the final 10-minutes.
Outside of a 3-pointer by
Kelsey Langston and a layup from Jackson, the other 12 points in the quarter came from the line for the Big Red, limiting Cornell's ability to build a substantial rally as Brown was able to outscore the Big Red 10-6 in the final stretch to keep the game out of reach.

• Saturday's field goal percentage of 31.4 percent is its lowest for Cornell since shooting 29.6 percent from the field against Quinnipiac.
• Cornell made less than five threes (3-for-19) for the first time in four games.
• Kaus led Cornell in scoring for the sixth time this season and first time since the Dec. 9 game against Army. It was the 12th time this season the junior scored double figures.
• Jones recorded her first career game with double-digits in the scoring column, while Jackson reached double figures for the eighth time this season, second-best on the team.
