#7 Women's Squash Swept by #2 Penn on Senior Day

ITHACA, N.Y. — The seventh-ranked Cornell women's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 2 Penn on Saturday afternoon at the Belkin Squash Courts.

Penn remained undefeated at 11-0 overall and 2-0 in Ivy League play, earning straight-game victories at six positions and four-game wins at three others. Cornell moved to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in conference action.

At No. 2, senior Alysa Ali won the opening game against Franka Vidovic before Vidovic closed out the match, capped by a 13-11 fourth game. At No. 7, freshman Lamees Shalaby also took the first game before Hailey Wong responded to claim the final three games. Anne Leakey added a four-game win for Penn at the No. 6 position over junior Maya Voloshin.

Malak Khafagy earned a straight-game victory over senior Aishwarya Khubchandani at the top of the lineup. Penn also recorded three-game wins from Malak Taha (No. 3), Sohaila Ismail (No. 4), Alexandra Stoddard (No. 5), Ashna Tumuluri (No. 8) and Savannah Ingledew (No. 9).

The match served as Senior Day for Cornell, which honored Khubchandani, Ali, Devon Shatzman and Yasmine Sana prior to the match.

No. 5: Alexandra Stoddard def. Christa Kay, 11-8, 11-5, 11-6.
No. 6: Anne Leakey def. Maya Voloshin, 13-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6.
No. 7: Hailey Wong def. Lamees Shalaby, 9-11, 11-3, 11-4, 12-10.
No. 8: Ashna Tumuluri def. Calla Yim, 11-8, 11-3, 11-5.
No. 9: Savannah Ingledew def. Devon Shatzman, 11-6, 11-2, 13-11.

UP NEXT
Cornell travels to New York City next weekend to face No. 13 Columbia (1-6, 0-3 Ivy). Match action is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, Feb. 7.
