#7 Women's Squash Returns Home to Face #9 Drexel on Sunday

| By:

ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 7-ranked Cornell women's squash team will open the spring semester on Sunday when it hosts No. 9 Drexel at the Belkin Squash Courts.

Cornell (3-2) will be looking to rebound from a 6-3 loss at No. 6 Virginia on Dec. 6 when it takes on Drexel (4-4) with match action scheduled to begin at noon. All matches will be streamed live for free on Stretch Internet.

RETURNING HOME
The Big Red will be playing its first home match since Nov. 23, when it swept No. 10 Tufts, 9-0. Sunday's contest against Drexel marks Cornell's lone home match until Jan. 30, when it hosts No. 2-ranked Princeton following the CSA Individual Championships, which will be held in New York City from Jan. 23-27.

Cornell heads into Sunday's match after falling to Virginia in Charlottesville. The Big Red will be eager to return to the form it showed in its convincing victory over Tufts before the winter break.

SEASON STANDOUTS
Freshman Calla Yim remains the lone undefeated Big Red player who has appeared in multiple matches this season, carrying a perfect 3-0 record into Sunday's contest.

Fellow freshman Vicky Lai, senior Alysa Ali, and junior Maya Voloshin are tied for the team lead in victories, each posting 4-1 records. All three enter Sunday riding two-match win streaks and will look to continue their strong play against the Dragons.

SCOUTING DREXEL
Drexel enters Sunday's match with a 4-4 record. The Dragons opened the season with a pair of sweeps over No. 27 Franklin & Marshall and No. 28 Haverford before being swept by No. 3 Penn to conclude their three-game slate in the Pennsylvania State Classic.

Following setbacks to No. 4 Stanford, 8-1, and No. 2 Princeton, 9-0, Drexel snapped its three-match losing streak with a 9-0 sweep of No. 14 Georgetown on Nov. 23. After a 6-3 loss to No. 8 Yale on Dec. 6, Drexel responded with an 8-1 win over No. 11 Columbia the following night.

Emilia Falconi, Lijana Sultana, and Claudia Adam are all tied for the team lead in wins, each having 5-3 records entering Sunday's contest. Moa Bonnemark and Emma Bartley also sport .500 records with identical 4-4 marks.

SERIES HISTORY
Cornell holds an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series and has dominated recent matchups against Drexel, winning the last three meetings. The Big Red's most recent victory came in convincing fashion in the first round of the CSA National Team Championships on March 6, 2025, in Philadelphia, where Cornell posted a 7-2 win.

The success against Drexel has been consistent for the Big Red, who will look to extend their winning streak to four matches on Sunday.
