ITHACA, N.Y. --- The Cornell equestrian team will travel to Alfred, N.Y. on Sunday to compete in Alfred Show II at Alfred University.
The Big Red is coming off a dominant performance at Cornell Show II on Feb. 15, where Cornell earned the title of High Point Team and now leads the region.
Erin Morera was named High Point Rider and
Riley Gerardo was Reserve High Point Rider for Cornell. Morera also earned the "ride of the day," the highest scored round of the show, with a score of 91.
Morera has been a standout performer throughout the season with eight first place finishes across open flat and open fences. The senior has now earned High Point Rider honors twice this season, previously claiming the award at RIT Show II in October. Gerardo has also been a consistent force in open competition with six first place finishes and has earned Reserve High Point Rider honors twice.
In limit competition,
Savannah Fasner and
Madelyn Samtani have each recorded multiple first place finishes this season.
Estelle Azurin and
Clara Beck both earned first place in limit flat at Cornell Show II, continuing their strong performances in the division.
The Big Red will look to extend its lead in the region standings at Alfred Show II on Sunday.
