PRINCETON, N.J. — The fourth-seeded and seventh-ranked Cornell women's squash dropped an 8-1 decision to top-seeded and top-ranked Princeton in the semifinals of the inaugural Ivy League Women's Squash Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Princeton Racquet and Recreation Fieldhouse.
Junior
Xin Ying Yee provided the lone bright spot for the Big Red (7-7), defeating Zeina Zein — a two-time defending CSA Individual Champion — at the No. 1 position in straight games, 12-10, 11-8, 11-8. The victory was a rematch of sorts for Yee, who had lost to Zein in four games during the regular season.
Princeton (12-1), which won its 11th consecutive match, controlled the remainder, highlighted by Alexandra Jaffe, the newly-minted Ivy League Rookie of the Year, allowing just 11 points in her straight-game victory over senior
Aishwarya Khubchandani at the No. 2 position. Charlotte Bell edged
Vicky Lai in four games at No. 4, while both Emma Trauber (No. 3) and Samantha Jaffe (No. 5), who entered the match undefeated on the season at 12-0, won following retirements by their Big Red opponents.
The bottom third of the lineup was also dominated by Princeton as the Tigers registered straight-game victories in each match.
