BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- No. 71 Indiana swept the doubles point and never looked back, topping No. 69 Cornell 4-0 on Saturday at the IU Tennis Center. The Big Red fell to 3-4 on the season, while the Hoosiers improved to 8-1.
Indiana claimed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The Hoosiers earned a 6-2 victory at the top spot and a 6-4 decision at No. 3, while the No. 2 match was left unfinished to get the home team off to a running start.
In singles, Indiana secured the team result with straight-set wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 4. Ameia Sorey defeated Michelle Ryndin at the top position, Ale Teodosescu topped Sage Loudon at No. 2 and Hi'ilani Williams closed out the clincher against Dylan Gelber at No. 4.
Matches at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 were halted once the outcome was decided, with Victoria Zhao, Andrea Martinez De Los Rios, and Emma Baker each competing in unfinished contests.
Cornell will look to regroup when it heads to Muncie, Ind. to face Ball State on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m.
