ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's lacrosse has officially broken into the national rankings, landing at No. 25 in this week's Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll following a statement victory at home.
The Big Red earned their spot in the top 25 after knocking then-No. 24 James Madison University out of the rankings with a dominant 12-8 win on Sunday in Ithaca. Cornell controlled the game from the opening draw, dictating pace on both ends of the field and closing strong to secure the four-goal victory.
The win marks a significant milestone early in the season, signaling Cornell's continued ascent on the national stage and rewarding a stretch of strong performances by the young and hungry squad.
Cornell will look to keep its momentum rolling this Saturday when it welcomes No. 17 Penn State University to Ithaca. First draw is set for 3 p.m. on Schoellkopf Field.
