PRINCETON, N.J. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team completed day two of the 2026 Ivy League Championships and sits sixth in the team standings with 281 points. Princeton leads the field with 541 points, followed by Yale (459.5), Harvard (376.5), Columbia (305) and Brown (305).
Jacques Grove led Cornell in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 11th in 4:21.00 to score 16 points.
Julian Correa added 15 points with a 12th-place finish in 4:21.01, while
Duke Garvin finished 23rd in 4:27.16 (2 points) and Clay Baumann placed 24th in 4:29.02 (1 point). In the 200-yard IM,
Pietro Ubertalli posted a fifth-place finish in 1:43.78 to earn 25 points.
Gabe Anagnoson added 16 points with an 11th-place finish in 1:45.63, and
Haihan Xu placed 23rd in 1:48.74 to score two points.
Josh Toothman highlighted the Big Red in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing sixth in 19.54 to score 24 points.
Cornell divers also contributed in the 1-meter competition.
Peter Buskirk placed 15th with a score of 264.00 to earn 12 points, while
Max Reis-Trovillion added nine points with a 17th-place finish and
William Klingensmith scored five points with a 20th-place finish. The Big Red closed the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Toothman,
Daniel Simoes, Anagnoson and
Jacques Grove touched in 1:18.38 to score 50 points.
"There were alot of good performances today.
Josh Toothman had a very impressive 50 free today, lowering his school record in the event, solidifying him as the fastest Cornellian in water", Wes Newman, the The Philip H. Bartels '71 Head Coach of Men's Swimming mentioned. "We are in for what could be a great team battle between us, Brown, and Columbia, so we are excited about that. Looking forward to more racing, as tomorrow is a big day with many events", Newman concluded with.
