#7 Women's Squash Heads to New York City to Face #13 Columbia, #3 Stanford

ITHACA, N.Y. — The seventh-ranked Cornell women's squash team will look to rebound from a difficult weekend when it travels to New York City for a pair of matches, facing Columbia on Saturday at noon and Stanford on Sunday at noon.

The Big Red (5-5, 1-3 Ivy League) are coming off a challenging weekend at the Belkin Squash Courts, where it fell 9-0 to both No. 4 Princeton and No. 2 Penn. Senior Alysa Ali and junior Maya Voloshin lead Cornell with matching 6-4 records in dual matches, while freshmen Vicky Lai and Lamees Shalaby have both posted 5-5 marks.

Saturday's match against Columbia will be held at the SL Green StreetSquash Center and streamed live on Stretch Internet. The Lions (1-7, 0-4 Ivy) have struggled this season, losing six straight matches since defeating Colby 8-1 on Nov. 15 and winning just five games during that stretch. Ranked 13th in the CSA rankings, Columbia is led by Isha Gupta's 4-4 record, with Kaavya Bansal close behind at 3-5.

Cornell holds an 11-8 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last two meetings. A victory Saturday would give the Big Red its longest winning streak over Columbia since a three-match run from Feb. 28, 2016, to Feb. 26, 2017. In last year's meeting, Cornell cruised to a 7-2 victory in Ithaca, with Xin Ying Yee, Aishwarya Khubchandani, Ananya Dabke and Ali all recording straight-game wins in the top four positions, while Voloshin added a three-game victory at No. 6.

Sunday's match against Stanford will be the third match in as many days for the third-ranked Cardinal (4-2) after facing Columbia on Friday and Yale on Saturday. Stanford most recently fell 6-3 to top-ranked Harvard on Jan. 22. Madison Ho (5-1) and Tiana Parasrampuria (5-0) are tied for the team lead in wins, with Mariana Narvaez Dardon (4-2) right behind.

Stanford holds a 13-12 edge in the all-time series and has won the last three meetings and 10 of the last 11. The Cardinal swept both matchups last season, posting a 7-2 victory in the season opener on Nov. 22, 2024, before edging Cornell 5-4 in the second consolation bracket of the CSA National Championships in Philadelphia on March 8, 2025. Cornell hasn't defeated Stanford since a 5-2 win in Philadelphia on Nov. 19, 2021.
