ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell men's hockey freshman forward
Caton Ryan has been named ECAC Hockey's Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Receiving his third ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week award of the season, Ryan posted three assists in the third-seeded Big Red's three-game series victory over sixth-seeded Harvard at Lynah Rink, clinching Cornell's fourth consecutive trip to championship weekend of the ECAC Hockey Championship in Lake Placid, N.Y.
His three points were tied with Clarkson defenseman Matthew Mayich (1-2—3) for the highest point total by an ECAC Hockey skater in the quarterfinal round. The trio of helpers posted by the Ottawa, Ontario, native were tied with his linemate, junior forward
Ryan Walsh, and Dartmouth defenseman C.J. Foley for the third-most assists on the weekend.
Behind his three-point weekend, Ryan (11-19—30) became the 13th Cornell freshman to post a 30-point season and the second to do so this century, joining Riley Nash (12-20—32) in 2007-08.
Cornell, now ranked eighth in the most recent USCHO.com poll, will face fourth-seeded Princeton (17-12-3) in the semifinals of the 2026 ECAC Hockey Championship on Friday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the 1980 Rink — Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
