Cornell Sits Ninth in Team Standings After Three Rounds at NCAA Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Cornell women's fencing opened the 2026 NCAA Championships on Thursday with four fencers competing across all three weapons, highlighted by a strong showing from epée's Ketki Ketkar, who sits seventh in the field through three rounds of competition at the Purcell Pavilion.

The Big Red sit ninth in the team standings with 27 points and 32 remaining, posting a .450 winning percentage through the opening day. Columbia/Barnard leads the field with 67 points, one ahead of Notre Dame (66), with Princeton third at 50.

Senior Ketki Ketkar led Cornell in epée with a 10-5 record, placing seventh among 24 competitors. 

In saber, Cornell placed two fencers inside the top 20. Junior Isabela Carvalho sits 10th with a 7-8 record, while fellow junior Samantha Marsee checks in at 19th at 5-10 mark.Freshman Lana Lee rounds out Cornell's quartet, sitting 18th in the foil standings with a 5-10 record.

Competition continues Friday at Purcell Pavilion with the final two rounds of pool play, before the top fencers from each weapon advance to finals.
