ITHACA, N.Y. — Eight members of Cornell women's fencing have been named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association All-Region teams, the organization announced Monday

Senior Ketki Ketkar (epee),  junior Samantha Marsee (saber),  junior Isabela Carvalho (saber) and freshman Trisha Nath (saber) were honored on the All-Northeast First Team.  Senior Nora Weber (epee) was tabbed to the Second Team, while freshman Lana Lee (foil), senior Mia Jo (foil) and freshman Reya Ghayalod (saber) each received Honorable Mention recognition.

The awards are determined based on results and field size at each of the NCAA Regional competitions, held Sunday, March 8.

Ketkar enters NCAA Championship consideration after a silver medal performance at the NCAA Northeast Regional, going 10-1 in the round of 12 at Vassar. The Ivy League individual champion in epee, she carries a 51-16 overall record and an .857 winning percentage in Ivy competition into the selection process. Weber also advanced to the round of 12 in epee, finishing 44-37 overall on the year.

In saber, Cornell made program history on Sunday by placing four fencers in the finals — the first time that feat had been accomplished in any weapon. Marsee earned bronze with a 7-4 record in the round of 12, with Carvalho placing fourth, Nath fifth and Ghayalod 11th. Marsee carries a 32-20 overall record into the selection process, with Carvalho at 42-22 (.656), Nath at 34-23 and Ghayalod at 52-24 (.684).

Lee paces Cornell's foil contingent with a 69-41 overall record, while Jo has posted 52 wins in dual competition this season.

The NCAA Championship field will be officially announced Tuesday, March 11. The championships are set for March 19-22 at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
