Gymnastics Set to Host GEC Championships Saturday at Newman Arena

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell gymnastics returns home to host the Gymnastics East Conference Championships on Saturday, March 21 at Newman Arena, with Session I beginning at 12 p.m. and Session II at 5 p.m.
 
THE MEET
Eight programs will compete across two sessions for the GEC team title. The field includes Brown, Cornell, Penn, Yale, West Chester, Southern Connecticut State, Bridgeport and William & Mary.

CORNELL UPDATE
The Big Red closed the regular season at West Chester on March 14. Cornell posted a 48.525 on floor exercise in that meet, with Sarah Goetter finishing second overall on the event with a 9.875 and Josie Moylan adding a 9.825 for third. Cami Whitaker won vault outright with a 9.775 to cap her regular season as one of the Big Red's most consistent performers on the apparatus.
 
Cornell has posted scored of 193.00 or better in three of the final four meets of the season, including a season-high team total of 193.575 came at the Ivy Classic on Feb. 22 in New Haven.
 
The Big Red took second at the Empire State Collegiate Championships, with a score of 192.850, while placing third at the Ivy Meet, and earning a dual meet win over Southern Connecticut State on March 1 inside Newman Arena.
 
Cornell seniors Cami Whitaker and Mikayala Burton each earned GEC Specialist of the Week honors during the 2026 regular season, with Whitaker winning the award twice.
 
VAULT
Whitaker has anchored Cornell's vault lineup all season, posting a 9.850 at the Empire State Collegiate Championships and the Ivy Classic en route to a season-high mark. Addy Rothstein has been a reliable presence in the lineup as well, recording a 9.750 on multiple occasions. Grace McLean has also contributed consistently, posting vault scores of 9.675 or higher in six of her 10 appearances on the event.
 
UNEVEN BARS
Goetter has been Cornell's steadiest performer on bars, reaching a season-high 9.800 at the Ivy Classic and finishing in the top four on the event in multiple meets down the stretch. Morgen Shambo has provided consistent contributions from the anchor spot, posting a season-high 9.750 earlier this year and recording scores of 9.625 or better in five outings.
 
BALANCE BEAM
McLean has been the Big Red's top beam performer, reaching a season-high 9.850 at the Ivy Classic and winning the event outright against Southern Connecticut State. Natalia Tehrani has matched McLean at the top of the lineup at times, posting a season-high 9.850 at the Empire State Collegiate Championships. Anne MacKenzie has also been a reliable contributor, recording a season-high 9.800 at the Ivy Classic.
 
FLOOR EXERCISE
Moylan has been Cornell's most dynamic floor performer all season, holding the team's top mark of 9.875 from the Empire State Collegiate Championships. Goetter has been equally consistent, reaching a 9.875 at West Chester to close the regular season and earning multiple top-three finishes on the event. Whitaker has provided depth in the lineup throughout, posting scores of 9.700 or higher in the majority of her floor appearances.
