Cornell's McMillan Named GEC Woman of the Year

| By:
ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's gymnastics junior Victoria McMillan has been named the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Woman of the Year, the league announced Saturday evening following session two of the conference championship meet.

McMillan's recognition comes not from what she has done on the competition floor, but from everything she has contributed off of it. After sustaining a severe injury early in her collegiate career that ultimately ended her ability to compete, McMillan transitioned into a student coach role and has remained an integral part of the Big Red program.

Excelling academically, McMillan will graduate in just three years with a 4.045 GPA while pursuing three majors and a concentration in social justice. She has also served as a team service chair, tutor and mental health advocate within the Cornell community.

Her experiences have shaped her plans beyond Cornell, where she intends to pursue a career in sports law focused on advocacy and equity for female athletes.
