Ryan Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

| By:
ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell men's hockey freshman forward Caton Ryan has been named ECAC Hockey's Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced Monday morning (March 2) by the conference office.

Ryan (2-1—3) scored in both games of the Big Red's sweep of St. Lawrence and Clarkson and added an assist in Cornell's regular-season finale against the Golden Knights on Saturday. His three points were tied with Quinnipiac's Ethan Wyttenbach (2-1—3), the nation's points leader, for the second-most among ECAC Hockey freshmen, only behind RPI defenseman Thomas Klassek (1-3—4). Across the pair of games, Ryan posted a plus-4 rating.

The Ottawa, Ontario, native has 27 points (11-16—27) across 29 games, marking the most points by a Cornell freshman since Riley Nash (12-20—32) in 2007-08. Ryan is the Big Red's third first-year player with at least 27 points this century, also joining Ryan Vesce (7-20—27 in 2000-01), and the eighth player to do so in the last 40 years.

The 11th-ranked Big Red (20-8-1, 15-6-1 ECAC Hockey) will wait to learn its opponent for next weekend's best-of-three quarterfinal series at Lynah Rink, pending the completion of this weekend's opening-round games to begin the 2026 ECAC Hockey Championship. As the No. 3 seed, the Big Red will face the second-highest remaining seed.

The best-of-three quarterfinal series will feature guaranteed games on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, with a potential Game 3 on Sunday, March 15, if necessary. Puck drop for Friday and Saturday's games will be 7 p.m., while Sunday's game, if needed, will be at 4 p.m. Ticket sales begin Monday, March 9, at 9 a.m. EDT.
