PRINCETON, N.J. - The Cornell softball team fell 8-0 to the Princeton Tigers in five innings of play on Sunday afternoon at Cynthia Lynn Paul '94 Field. The Big Red dropped to 7-11 on the year, while the Tigers improved to 13-9 on the season.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the second inning when Ratcheson grounded out to bring home a run for a 1-0 lead. Phelps followed that up with an RBI single through the left side to extend the advantage to 2-0. Princeton continued to apply pressure early in the contest, capitalizing on opportunities to build momentum.

The Tigers added to their lead in the third inning with a pair of key hits. Roa singled to left field to drive in two runs and push the lead to 4-0, before Valenzuela followed with an RBI single down the left field line to extend the margin to 5-0. Princeton's offense continued to string together timely hits, creating separation midway through the game.

Princeton added insurance in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Ford homered down the left field line to make it 6-0, and later in the inning Zhang singled to bring home another run and extend the lead to 7-0. Dominguez followed with an RBI single up the middle to push the score to 8-0, capping the Tigers' scoring.

Cornell was unable to generate offense against a strong Princeton pitching staff, as the Big Red were held scoreless throughout the contest. With the Tigers holding an eight-run lead after five innings, the game concluded via the run rule.

The Cornell softball team will return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 24th against the Bucknell Bison for a doubleheader at Niemand-Robison Field. The Big Red and Bison are scheduled to start game one at 2:30 p.m., with game two slated for 4:30 p.m. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
