ORLANDO, Fla. — Cornell women's track and field wrapped up competition at the UCF Knights Invite on Saturday, marking their first outdoor meet of the season complete.

The Big Red opened day two in the field, where Syna Sony led the way in the high jump with a seventh-place clearance of 1.67m. Paula-Marie Brown followed in 10th at 1.62m.

In the triple jump, Anika Sukumar paced Cornell with a 12th-place mark of 11.79m, while Sarah Caldwell (14th, 11.68m) and Elizabeth Graham (19th, 11.09m) rounded out the group.

On the track, Cornell's 4x100-meter relay team of Bamgboye, Beckham, Casa and Edgecomb placed sixth in 45.78 to kick off the running events.

The Big Red then turned to the 400 meters, where Francine Stevens led the group with a 14th-place finish in 55.09. Rachel Bethke (17th, 55.61), freshman Eden Oje (21st, 56.90), Justine Hounsell (31st, 58.19) and Elika Vahhaji (36th, 58.56) followed.

In the 100 meters, Natasha Redmond paced Cornell with a time of 11.89 to place 20th. Olivia Walters (24th, 11.95), Brianna Beckham (26th, 12.00) and Jodi Parrott (42nd, 12.61) also competed for the Big Red.

Cornell closed out the meet with its top finish of the day in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of Walters, Redmond, Sawyer and Bethke placed third in 3:49.13.

"It's nice to get the first outdoor meet in the books," head coach Mike Henderson said. "It gives us a much better idea of what we have to work on and how we have to keep adjusting for the extra variables that come with moving to the bigger track and the ever-changing weather."

With the first outdoor meet complete, the Big Red will look to build on its early results as the season continues for them at the Bucknell Bison Invite on Friday, April 10.
