ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior catcher
Lauren Holt and first-year utility
Tarisa Frans have earned Ivy League weekly distinctions following standout performances against Bucknell and Pennsylvania. Holt was named Player of The Week, and Frans collected Rookie of The Week honors.
Holt hit .538 with five home runs and 11 RBI with a .700 on-base percentage and a 1.692 slugging percentage (2.392 OPS) during the Big Red's 4-1 week. She had a pair of multi-home run games to move into third place all-time in Ivy history in home runs in the process (38). The senior opened the week by going 4-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBI in a midweek doubleheader sweep of Bucknell. She homered twice in the opener, including a grand slam, and hit another over the fence in game two's run-rule victory. Holt was 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's Ivy doubleheader split with Penn, including a go-ahead three-run homer with two outs in the seventh in the game one 7-6 Big Red victory. She had her fingerprints all over Sunday's 8-7 comeback victory over the Quakers, scoring the winning run with two outs in the seventh after drawing her fourth walk of the day to extend the game. In addition to her exploits at the plate, Holt was flawless in 12 fielding chances during the week.
Frans continued her sensational freshman campaign by hitting .643 with a .722 on-base percentage during the Big Red's 4-1 weekend, scoring six runs. She added four walks and three stolen bases to her 9-for-14 week at the plate. She hit safely in four of the five contests and scored at least a run in all five, posting three multi-hit efforts with a 4-for-4 finale against Penn that included a walk and three steals in the 8-7 comeback triumph. Frans' single in the seventh with two outs extended the inning and helped Cornell score five runs to earn the series win. She finished 7-for-10 in the Penn series.
