ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell men's soccer continues to make its mark at the professional level, with four former Big Red players appearing on Major League Soccer rosters when the 2026 season kicked off in late February ā the most of any Ivy League program.
Emeka Eneli '23 (Real Salt Lake),
Alex Harris '27 (Colorado Rapids), Wilson Eisner '25 (San Diego FC) and
Andrew Johnson '26 (Charlotte FC) represent a growing pipeline from Ithaca to the top level of professional soccer in the United States.
"To have four of our former players currently competing in Major League Soccer is something we're incredibly proud of," said
John Smith, the Dr. Daniel P. Wood Head Coach of Men's Soccer at Cornell. "Seeing Emeka, Alex, Wilson and Andrew playing first-team minutes is a testament to their talent, resilience and professionalism. It also speaks to the level our program has reached over the past five years. Our environment is built around honesty, humility, bravery and daily work, and these players embraced that standard."
Here's a look at the four former Big Red players currently competing in MLS.
⢠Emeka Eneli '23 ā Real Salt Lake
In his fourth season at Real Salt Lake and his second as team captain, Eneli has earned 82 regular season appearances and 63 starts. He has tallied a goal and four assists from his midfield position. When he was named team captain in 2024, he became the youngest to hold that honor in the organization's history. He was selected 25th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake and has since made two appearances for the U.S. Men's National Team, debuting in a friendly against Venezuela in January 2025 and assisting on a goal later that month in a win over Costa Rica. At Cornell, Eneli was a second-team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches as a senior after guiding the Big Red to the second round of the NCAA Championship in 2022. A two-time All-Northeast Region pick (second team in 2021, first team in 2022), he was a two-time first-team all-Ivy League pick (2021, 22) after garnering honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2019. Eneli concluded his career with the Big Red with 60 points (21 goals, 18 assists), which ranked seventh all-time.
⢠Alex Harris '27 ā Colorado Rapids
Harris is in his second season as a forward with the Colorado Rapids, playing in six matches and earning his first career start earlier this season against the Portland Timbers. He has also seen action in MLS NEXT Pro, scoring six goals with three assists in 2025. He was announced as a 2025 MLS Generation Adidas selection and was chosen with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. In just two seasons at Cornell, Harris finished with 71 points on 31 goals and nine assists, ranking fourth all-time in career goals, third in points and first in penalty-kicks made (8). A second-team All-American as a sophomore, he was Ivy League and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and first-team all-region as a sophomore after capturing Ivy League and ECAC Rookie of the Year awards in 2023.
⢠Wilson Eisner '25 ā San Diego FC
Eisner is in his first season with San Diego Football Club after spending time with the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS NEXT Pro, making 44 appearances with 38 starts. He assisted on a goal in his first match for the club in the CONCACAF Champions Cup in February. Eisner was a three-year starter at Cornell, earning second-team All-Ivy honors in 2023. In 36 career contests, including 34 starts, he tallied three goals and three assists. Eisner was an iron man in his final season with the Big Red, going the full 90 minutes in 10 of the team's 14 contests.
⢠Andrew Johnson '26 ā Charlotte FC
Johnson is in his first season with the Charlotte Football Club and saw action in a pair of preseason contests in his role in the back. He was selected 47th overall by Charlotte in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. A three-time All-Ivy selection, including a two-time first-teamer, he was named to the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Northeast Region team in each of his final two seasons with the Big Red. A four-year starter, Johnson appeared in 69 career games, starting every one, and recorded five goals and one assist for 11 points. Four of those five goals were game winners, and he averaged nearly 86 minutes of field time per contest over his four seasons with 57 contests playing the full 90 minutes.
