ITHACA, N.Y. -- As it continues to prepare for Ivy League competition, the Cornell women's tennis team will hit the road to face UConn on Saturday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester, Conn.
The Big Red sports a 5-5 record on the season after finishing sixth at the ECAC Indoor Championships, including a 4-3 victory over Dartmouth and a tight 4-2 loss to Columbia. Cornell also owns wins over St. Bonaventure (7-0), Niagara (6-1), Buffalo (5-2) and FDU (6-1) this spring. Cornell swept last weekend's contests, including a triumph on the road at the 13-2 Bulls this past Saturday.

Spencer Furman returns a balanced lineup that gained valuable experience during a competitive fall season, highlighted by strong individual performances at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships and Ivy League Conference Masters events.
Sophomore
Sage Loudon (11-9) and junior
Michelle Ryndin (8-8) have played in the top spot in the lineup with junior
Victoria Zhao (9-9), sophomore Andrea Martinez de los Rios (12-6) and freshman
Dylan Gelber (13-6) also mainstays in the lineup. Martinez de los Rios has a team-high six-match win streak entering the week.
Martina Marica (3-8),
Emma Baker (4-11) and
Tanya Fan (5-6) have also earned time in dual matches so far this spring.
UConn is 6-3 overall and is 1-2 in Big East play after splitting contests on the road against Butler (W, 4-3) and DePaul (L, 2-5). First-year head coach Laura Glitz, who guided the Big Red from 2004-07, has won 237 matches as a collegiate head coach - including a program-record 210 at Purdue. The Huskies will match up with Bryant on Friday prior to facing the Big Red.
