ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell first-year utility Tarisa Frans has been named to the NFCA Division 1 National Freshman of The Year Top 25 list. Frans is the lone Ivy League member on the list and becomes the first ever Cornellian to be represented. In 37 games played, Frans currently stands at a 1.068 OPS, 44 runs on 56 hits, 26 RBI, eight extra-bases, and a home run to boot.

Cornell stood among eight programs who were distinguished with a top-25 first-year athlete. The Southeastern Conference led the way with seven honorees, while the Big Ten Conference followed with six representatives. The Big 12, Coastal Athletic Association and Conference USA garnered two plaudits apiece. One student-athlete achieved top-25 status from the American Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, Big West Conference, Ivy League, Mountain West Conference and Western Athletic Conference.

The list of 25 was selected by the NFCA. The top 10, top three and winner are voted by the NFCA Division I All-America Committee. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, May 26, prior to the start of the 2026 NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
