ITHACA, N.Y. — Former Cornell basketball forward Emily Pape '26 is embarking on the next chapter of her academic and athletic career, committing to Newcastle University in England, where she will continue her playing career while pursuing a Master's degree.

"She has earned this opportunity with her relentless work ethic, leadership, and commitment to improving every day. We know that she'll represent herself and this program extremely well, and we can't wait to watch her continue to succeed on the international stage. We're so proud of her and look forward to following her journey."
 
Pape, a 6-foot-1 forward, wrapped up a four-year Cornell career that saw her rank among the program's all-time greats, finishing 14th in program history in scoring, eighth in made three-pointers and sixth in rebounds. She earned Academic All-Ivy honors this past season.
 
Over 106 career games, Pape totaled 1,111 points (10.5 ppg), 624 rebounds (5.9 rpg), 140 assists, 33 blocks and 123 steals, while connecting on 112 three-pointers. She posted her best statistical season as a sophomore in 2022-23, averaging 11.2 points per game, and closed her career averaging double figures in scoring in all four seasons. Her career highs include a 27-point outing accomplished three times, at Brown (01/28/23), at Syracuse (12/18/23) and at Rutgers (11/07/24), along with a 16-rebound performance at Marist (11/10/24) and a six-steal game against Marist (12/21/23).
 
Pape will now pursue a Master's in Sustainability Management at Newcastle, while continuing her basketball career overseas.

"My time at Cornell has fully prepared me for an opportunity like this, and though it's unfamiliar and new, I'm confident in my ability to start this next chapter abroad. The combination of Euro basketball, a masters in Sustainability Management, and travel in my free time is a dream come true. Even from afar, I'll be cheering on my sister and the Big Red this upcoming season!"
