Buckingham Named Ivy League Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's cross country freshman Huntley Buckingham was named the Ivy League Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, following a standout performance at the CU Big Red Opener on Friday at Moakley Course.

Buckingham won the women's race with a time of 19:22.2, leading the Big Red to a strong showing in its home opener.

About Buckingham

The victory added a mark to an impressive collegiate career start. Competing in cross country and track and field for four years at IMG Academy, she recorded a personal-best 5K time of 17:22 during her prep career, along with personal bests of 4:53 in the 1,600 meters, 6:53 in the 2,000-meter steeplechase and 10:04 in the 3,000 meters.

Buckingham is the daughter of Michael and Anne Buckingham. She has four brothers, Graydon, Britton, Lachlan and Langley, and two sisters, Blakeley and Langley.
