ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell senior Maisie McManus has been named the Ivy League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at the Panthers XC Invite this past weekend.
McManus captured first place at Adelphi in Bethpage, N.Y., crossing the finish line in 21:28.9 to establish a new course record. The performance marked another step forward for McManus, who has steadily improved throughout her Cornell career.
"Maisie ran the race with a lot of confidence and poise," said Mike Henderson, the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Men's and Women's Cross Country. "This race was a testament to the progress she continues to make in her running career. We are excited to see what lies ahead for her the rest of the season."
McManus' Career
McManus has qualified for the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Cross Country Championships in each of the past two seasons. As a junior in 2025, she set a 6-kilometer personal best of 20:57.5 at the Princeton Fall Classic and placed 73rd at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships. She also finished third at the Cornell Opener in 18:35.4.
During her sophomore campaign, McManus established a 5-kilometer personal best of 18:00.8 at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, finishing sixth, before placing 107th at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships in the 6K. She opened her Cornell career with a 5K personal best of 20:01.2 at the Harry Lang Invitational as a freshman in 2023.
