Biography

Scarselletta has been a consistent member of the Big Red lineup since arriving on East Hill. A big, physical presence down low, she is a forward who sees the floor well and does the little things right. While her scoring and rebounding are important to Cornell offense, she is equally valuable for her ability to set screens and make smart passes.

At Cornell
Scarselletta saw action in all 29 games during her junior season, making one start. She averaged 20.9 minutes, 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest. She scored in double-figures four times and led the team in scoring once with eight points at Harvard on March 1. She had one of her best games of the season in Cornell’s most important contest, scoring 11 points, grabbing four rebounds and handing out two assists vs. Dartmouth in the Ivy League playoff game on March 16. She followed that with three rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot vs. No. 1 Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Scarselletta saw action in all 27 games as a sophomore, starting 24 contests. She averaged 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She also proved to be a defensive threat, ranking second on the team and seventh in the Ivy League with 0.6 blocked shots per game. She led the Big Red in scoring on three occasions and grabbed a team-high in rebounds in five games. Scarselletta registered her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in a 59-55 victory over Yale on Feb. 23. As a freshman, Scarselletta saw action in 26 games, making four starts. She averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game and scored in double-digits three times for the Big Red. Scarselletta led the team in rebounding on three occasions, including a career-high performance at Brown on Feb. 25 when she pulled down 11 caroms. She had her best offensive performance vs. Princeton on Jan. 14 when she led the Big Red with a career-high 20 points.

At The Nichols School
A first-team all-state selection in Class B her senior year, Scarselletta averaged 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists per game for The Nichols School in Buffalo, N.Y. She also led her team to a 23-3 overall record as a senior, helping her team place first in the state for independent schools and second in the Class B Federation tournament. Scarselletta was named one of the top 10 female basketball scholar-athletes in Western New York, as well as a top scholar-athlete in field hockey.

Personal
Shannan Marie Scarselletta is the daughter of Douglas and Kathleen Michalski and is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences. She has an older brother, Roger, and older sister, Sarah.
