Biography
Senior Season - 2010
David recorded his second straight season with a .301 batting average as the Big Red's every-day centerfielder. He appeared in 34 games, tying for the team lead with five home runs while scoring 22 times and driving in 20 runs. He also picked up six doubles and a pair of triples on the season. He also stole eight bases in nine attempts to lead the team. David had a hit in all but nine of the games he appeared in on the season, and reached base in all but seven of those. David closed out his season with an 11-game hitting streak, raising his batting average from .275 to .301 over that span. He had nine multi-hit games on ths year and had five multi-RBI games, including a season-best three RBI on April 11 at Brown. He hit a home run in his second game of the season against Binghamton, then clubbed another against Florida Atlantic on March 24. David's three other home runs all came during Ivy League play, hitting one against Brown on April 11, one against Columbia on April 24 and his final one against Princeton on April 30.
Junior Season - 2009
David had a breakthrough year in 2009, establishing himself as the Big Red's everyday center fielder. He set career bests in every offensive category, including finishing the year with a .301 batting average. David had 21 runs scored and drove in another 22, finishing third on the team in RBI, while slugging eight home runs, second-most on the team and the seventh-highest total in the Ivy League. He also stole a team-best 10 bases, ranking him fifth in the Ivy League. David was named the Ivy League's co-Player of the Week on April 28 after going 8-for-15 with two home runs, six RBI and three stolen bases. He had a pair of multi-home run games, hitting a pair in a 3-for-4 performance on March 15 at Santa Clara and tagging another two in the second game of the Ivy League Championship Series at Dartmouth, going 2-for-4. In both of his multi-home run games, David drove in five runs. He helped the Big Red get to the Ivy League Championship Series by hitting a three-run home run in the first inning of the divisional playoff game against Princeton, capping a nine-run first for the Big Red. For the season, he had 11 multi-hit games and ended the year reaching safely in seven straight games.
Sophomore Season - 2008
David made the switch to the outfield prior to his sophomore season and found increased playing time as a result. He appeared in 24 games, earning the start seven times, driving in five runs and scoring three times. He had his most productive day on March 20 against Long Island, going 1-for-4 with a triple and three runs driven in. In game two against Dartmouth 10 days later, he went 2-for-2 with two doubles, a pair of runs scored and one driven in.
Freshman Season - 2007
A reserve infielder in his rookie season, David came on as a defensive replacement at the end of three games. David had the misfortune of playing behind a pair of two-year returning starters in the middle of the infield in junior Jimmy Heinz and sophomore Scott Hardinger.
At Woodward
David helped his team to a pair of state playoff berths during his junior and senior seasons. The team captain during his senior year, he received the team’s hustle award. David lettered twice in baseball, playing centerfield, second base and third base, while also playing two years of football. He played his summer baseball with the East Cobb Expos of the World Wood Bat Association, helping that team to the national championship tourament in 2006.
Personal
Nathan David is the son of Todd David and Anne McCarthy, and he has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
