Biography

At Cornell
Freshman (2007-08):
As a rookie, Wauer was a mainstay at the blueline for the Big Red playing defense in all 30 games. She was second among defenseman in scoring with eight points, including two goals and six assists. Wauer’s first career goal drew Cornell even at 1-1 against Quinnipiac in a game that the Big Red went on to win 4-3. On Feb. 15 against Union, Wauer assisted on Rebecca Johnston’s game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory. She would also picked up another assist in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal game against Harvard for her first playoff point.

Prior to Cornell
Wauer was a silver medalist at the Canada Winter Games as a member of Team Manitoba in 2007, and also took fourth place at nationals. She served as the assistant captain for the Balmoral Hall Blazers. A five-sport athlete, Wauer was a member of the Notre Dame soccer and rugby teams that won the provincial championship in 2006. She also ran track and was a middle blocker on her volleyball team.

Personal
Samantha Victoria Wauer is the daughter of Ron and Kim Wauer, and has a younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
