Biography

Career Stats

At Cornell
After two years at running back, Ambrosi converted to the defensive side of the ball for an opportunity to see more field time in 2009. He moved to safety in 2009 and then to linebacker in the spring of 2010. He jumped on the opportunity and was one of the defense's top playmakers, ranking fourth on the team with 61 tackles. He had 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, 2 interceptions, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Ambrosi scored two defensive touchdowns, including the eventual game-winner in a 14-12 victory at Yale. He was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after his 2.0 tackles for loss, three-pass breakup day that included a 20-yard pick-six return for a score vs. the Bulldogs. He led all Ivy League safeties in both tackles for loss and sacks. Ambrosi had career-best 12 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown vs. Brown and posted nine tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception at Dartmouth. An outstanding athlete, Ambrosi earned his first varsity letter in 2008 primarily thanks to his play on special teams. He made one tackle and saw action in six contests while playing on kickoff and punt coverage teams. Ambrosi starred on the junior varsity team as a freshman as the team’s primary running back.

At Phillips Andover
Ambrosi was a first-team all-league selection during a prep year at Phillips Andover Academy after earning team MVP honors and setting a school record for touchdowns in a season (19). He was a first-team all-league and all-academic pick in 2005 at Newton North HS according to the Boston Globe. A two-way player who starred at both running back and defensive back, Ambrosi was named to the Boston.com all-star team after rushing for 337 yards and three touchdowns and making six tackles on defense in a win over Braintree HS as a senior at Newton North. He ended that season with more than 1,600 yards rushing, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry and scoring more than 20 touchdowns.

Personal
