At Cornell
An intelligent football player who has a great grasp of the offense, Ganter has the upperhand in the battle for the open quarterback position. He possesses good athleticism and size and has a big arm capable of making all the throws in Cornell’s offense. Ganter has the confidence of his teammates thanks to his leadership in the huddle. Ganter played in two games as a junior, completing one pass for four yards. He saw action in six contests in 2007, completing 19-of-41 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown, including a 7-of-14 day passing for a career-high 75 yards and a score against Ivy runner-up Yale. Ganter directed the junior varsity squad as a freshman. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

At State College
An honorable mention all-state pick as a senior captain at State College Area HS, Ganter passed for 1,510 yards and 11 touchdowns in his final season. He led his school to a 9-4 record and a runner-up finish in the district playoffs en route to being selected to compete in the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star game. He also was picked to play in the Big 33 All-Star game, pitting the top high school players from Pennsylvania against an all-star team from Ohio. He completed 57 percent of his passes on the year and rushed for 257 yards and eight touchdowns.

Personal
Benjamin William Ganter is the son of Fran Ganter and has three older brothers. His father is the associate athletic director for football administration at Penn State after serving as the longtime offensive coordinator for Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno. He is the fourth Ganter son to play Division I football following Jon (Princeton), Chris (Penn State) and Jason (Penn State).
