Lainhart, an honorable mention All-Ivy League pick in 2011, ranked second in the Ancient Eight and led the Big Red with 92 tackles. His 9.2 tackles per game ranked 47th nationally, and he added 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries and a forced a fumble. Lainhart's 254 career tackles, ranks 11th all-time at Cornell. He posted four games with double figure tackles and was second in the Ivy League with two fumbles recovered. A strong player with excellent instincts, Lainhart ranked second on the team with 75 tackles in 2010, with his 8.3 tackles per game ranking fifth in the conference. Lainhart posted 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup. He registered five double-figure tackle contests, including 14 stops (13 solo) and a sack against Yale. Lainhart also was credited with 13 tackles vs. Penn and 11 against Harvard. Lainhart made the most of his first year as a starter in 2009, ranking third on the team with 86 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss and second with two interceptions. He also forced a fumble, while one of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown. Lainhart had a pair of double figure tackles games, including a career-best 15 against Colgate. He missed the 2008 season due to injury after playing in seven games on special teams with one tackle as a freshman in 2007. Off the field, he captured the team’s Daniel N. Bondareff Freshman Scholar-Athlete Award for academic and football proficiency. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

At Colerain
Lainhart helped Colerain HS to a 13-1 record as a senior with three sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception. His team was ranked in the USA Today Super 25 throughout the season and earned city and sectional titles before falling in the state title game. He was a central part of a defense that authored six shutouts in 2006.

Brandon Michael Lainhart is the son of Allen and Tina Lainhart and has an older brother, Brian, who plays football at Kent State.
