Biography
Senior Season - 2009-10
Danforth appeared in all 36 games during the Big Red's run to the national championship game, scoring five goals and six assists for 11 points. She had a pair of multi-point games on the season, first tallying a pair of goals and an assist in the 4-0 victory over Union on Nov. 4, then adding a goal and an assist in the 5-4 win over Rensselaer in the ECAC Hockey semifinals. She had a string of five straight games with at least one point in the runup to the Frozen Four, scoring two goals and four assists over that span.
Junior Season - 2008-09
Danforth appeared in all 31 of the Big Red's games on the season, scoring a career-best six goals and tallying another six assists for a career-high 12 points. She had a pair of multi-point games on the year, scoring a goal and an assist on Nov. 7 against Princeton and tallying a career-high three assists in a 4-3 loss to Colgate on Jan. 11. Of the six goals she scored on the year, two came on the power play, including a goal in the
season-opening win at Vermont and later in a 5-3 win over Niagara on Nov. 30.
Sophomore Season - 2007-08
Playing in all 30 games, Danforth improved upon her freshman totals by scoring four goals and seven assists for a total of 11 points. She picked up her first career multi-point game against Wayne State on Oct. 27, scoring a goal and adding two assists. She added a goal in the 7-4 win over Princeton on Nov. 16, and tallied another marker on Jan. 25 in a 5-1 victory over Brown.
Freshman Season - 2006-07
Danforth led the team’s rookies in scoring as a freshman, scoring a goal and five assists for six points. Her first collegiate point was an assist in the win over Brown on Oct. 27, while tallying an assist the following night against Yale. Danforth scored her first career goal on Dec. 2 in the Big Red's win against Union.
Before Cornell
Danforth played for Honeybaked for six seasons, serving as either captain or assistant captain for five of those years. She was named the MVP in the state tournament. At Grosse Point High School, Danforth lettered in field hockey and soccer and earned all-region honors in soccer and all-state accolades in field hockey.
Personal
Laura Kay Danforth is the daughter of Robert and Sondra Danforth. She has one older brother. Her uncle, Bill Danforth, is a professional skateboarder. She is enrolled in Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
