Erin McCarthy Career Stats
At Cornell
Senior (2010): McCarthy will serve as the team’s co-captain during the 2010 season.
Junior (2009): In a season that was shortened due to injury, McCarthy saw action in the first nine matches of her junior campaign, playing in 24 sets. She tallied 39 kills (1.62 kills per set), and 42 digs (1.75 digs per set). She led the team in kills on two occasions, including a season-high eight kills at Binghamton on Sept. 12, and posted a team-best 11 digs against St. John’s on Sept. 19. McCarthy finished the year with eight blocks, three assists and two service aces.
Sophomore (2008): As a sophomore, McCarthy became one of the Big Red’s most versatile players, ranking near the top of the team in a variety of statistical categories. McCarthy was third on the team in total kills (188), fourth in kills per set (2.19), second in aces (14), fourth in digs per set (1.81), fifth in total digs (156) and sixth in blocks (24). She recorded six double-doubles on the season, including a 15 kill, 14 dig performance against Columbia on September 27. She also had back to back double-doubles on the last weekend of the season, when she recorded 14 kills and 10 digs against Dartmouth and 10 kills and 18 digs against Harvard. McCarthy also recorded 13 assists.
Freshman (2007): McCarthy played in 55 games during her freshman campaign, and was second on the team in kills per game with a 3.00 average. She tallied 10 or more kills in 10 matches, and had a career-high 18 against Navy on Sept. 14. McCarthy had a season-high 21 digs against Lafayette on Sept. 15, and also put up four blocks.
At Thomas Worthington HS
A four-time letter winner, McCarthy was named second-team all-Ohio is 2006. She was district and state all-star match participant. Team captain her senior year, McCarthy received conference player of the year honors. She was a two-time team MVP and first-team all-district member. She helped her team to a district championship in 2005 and conference championships in 2005 and 2003. McCarthy also lettered in basketball as a center. A scholar athlete, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and was awarded the National Merit Commended Honor. McCarthy was also a member of the Worthington Youth Service Council and Student Athletic Leadership Board.
Personal
Erin Nicole McCarthy is the daughter of Don and Marci McCarthy and has a younger brother and sister. She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
