In 2011-12 (fifth-year senior)
Groebe played in 18 contests with two starts. He has missed seven other games due to injury. Groebe averaged 1.3 points and 0.2 rebounds while playing 5.6 minutes per game. He made three 3-pointers against Boston University for a season-high nine points. Groebe posted five points, two rebounds and an assist in nine minutes against Albright.
In 2010-11 (senior)
Groebe averaged 6.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 23 total contests with six starts. He shot 37 percent from beyond the arc while playing 20.4 minutes per contests despite missing five games due to injury. Groebe scored a game-high 15 points and added four rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and a steal against Albany in 30 minutes of action. Groebe made 5-of-10 field goals and hit 3-of-5 shots form beyond the 3-point arc in the win. He scored 13 points and ripped down six boards in the win over Delaware and had 16 points vs. St. Bonaventure. Groebe had 15 points while hitting 5-of-7 3-pointers against Bucknell after scoring just nine points in his previous five games. He scored 11 points with a career-best six rebounds at Brown and netted a career-high 20 points and added two rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal while hitting 6-of-8 shots from beyond the arc in the overtime win over Penn. Groebe was in double figures against both Harvard (10 points, 2 rebounds) and Dartmouth (14 points, 3 rebounds) at home. He helped spark the Big Red to a win over Brown with nine points, three rebounds and three assists off the bench and posted six points and three rebounds in the win over Yale in the team's final weekend.
In 2009-10 (junior)
Groebe was a regular off the bench for Cornell, averaging 3.0 points while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 56 percent from 3-point range in 27 contests. He twice set a career scoring high with 15 points against both Penn State Behrend and Dartmouth, and also netted 13 points vs. Bryant. Groebe scored six points, including the go-ahead trey, in his return to Massachusetts. In the five games he played at least 10 minutes, Groebe averaged 11.0 points and 3.4 3-pointers per game while shooting 61 percent (17-of-28) from beyond the arc.
At the University of Massachusetts
Groebe saw action in 19 contests off the bench for the 25-11 Minutemen in 2007-08, averaging 2.1 points in 5.5 minutes per game for the NIT runner-up. Known as a standout shooter, he connected on 14-of-35 field goals (.400) and 10-of-28 3-pointers (.357) as a freshman, recording six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a blocked shot in 104 minutes. Groebe had a career-high 11 points in a win over Central Connecticut State, hitting 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc.
At Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior HS
Groebe was a McDonald’s All-American nominee as a senior at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior HS after averaging 22.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists as a senior. He was invited to play in the Florida All-Star Game and captured all-Miami Dade first-team honors and was named a Miami Broward All-Star in each of his final two seasons. Groebe averaged 19 points as a junior. He averaged 18 points per game as a sophomore at Chaminade-Madonna HS in 2005, earning Newcomer of the Year honors. He ended his career at Krop as one of the school’s top five all-time scorers in just two varsity seasons, scoring over 1,000 points. He also set a school record for 3-pointers in a game with nine. His team went 56-9 in two seasons.

Maximillian Groebe is the son of Helmut and Nancy Groebe and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
