Biography
A smooth, clever player who can stay back or come to the net, Bhandari is excellent at using an opponents’ pace against them and moving them around. Bhandari has no real weaknesses to his game, and is a smart player who does not beat himself. He almost never tries a low percentage shot and he has developed a very deceptive style that has given him an advantage against his opponents.
2008- 09 Season
His spring season for 2009 was highlighted with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory over Duquesne on March 6 that helped Cornell sweep every match in the victory. In the fall, Bhandari posted a 6-3 singles record and reached the B flight semifinals at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
2007-08 Season
Bhandari posted a 3-2 singles record last fall after losing a tough three-set match in the semifinals of D singles at the Cornell Fall Outdoor Invitational. Bhandari is working to improve his court coverage and become stronger.
At Bayview
A graduate of Bayview SS, Bhandari was ranked in the top 10 in junior tennis in Canada.
Personal
Ashish Bhandari is the son of Akhil and Usha Bhandari and has one older sister. He is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Engineering.
