Biography
Junior Season - 2010-11
Garman served as one-half of the Cornell goaltending platoon as a junior, appearing in 19 games and starting 17 of those. He posted a 2.21 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage on the year to go along with an 8-8-1 record. Garman made a career-best 39 saves on Jan. 7 at Princeton in a 2-1 victory, and posted his first career shutout in his biggest start of the year, defeating Dartmouth in the ECAC Hockey semifinals. Garman posted seven games with 30 or more saves, with four of those coming over his final four starts of the year. He went 3-0 in the playoffs, scoring wins in games one and three of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals against Dartmouth, then picked up the win over the Big Green in the league semifinals, making 37 saves in the decisive third game of the quarterfinals and again in the semifinals. He came on in relief of Andy Iles twice during the year, first making a pair of stops in just over eight minutes against Union on Jan. 15, then playing just over 31 minutes in the ECAC Hockey championship game against Yale, stopping 17 of the 18 shots he faced in relief. Following the season, Garman announced his intention to graduate a year early and begin a professional career, making his junior season his final one in a Big Red uniform. He finished his career ranked sixth all-time at Cornell in save percentage and ninth in goals-against average.
Sophomore Season - 2009-10
Garman served as the team's second goaltender and made one appearance on the season. He came off the bench on Feb. 6 at Princeton with the Big Red trailing, 4-1, and kept the Big Red in the game with a 21-save performance over the final 32 minutes of the contest. His play allowed Cornell to close to within 4-3, but an empty-net goal sent the Big Red to the loss.
Freshman Season - 2008-09
Garman earned the spot as the team's number two goaltender and made a pair of appearances in his first season. He made his collegiate debut in relief of Ben Scrivens on Nov. 28 at North Dakota, stopping eight of the 10 shots he faced. He then relieved Scrivens in the Big Red's loss at St. Lawrence on Jan. 30, picking up 12 saves in the most extensive action of his short career.
