Senior Season - 2012-13
Rougeau concluced her phenomenal Cornell career with another excellent year. She won the ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman Award for the third consecutive season and was named to the league’s First Team as well as the Ivy League First Team. She served as Cornell's lone captain during her final season on East Hill and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team at season's end. Rougeau had 27 points in her senior year, earning them on seven goals and 20 assists. She tied a career high with four points against Colgate on Nov. 16, all on a career-high four assists. Rougeau leaves Cornell as the greatest plus/minus player in team history (+150). She was also ninth all-time for career assists with 89.
Junior Season - 2011-12
Rougeau had a stellar junior campaign, and she was named ECAC Hockey’s Best Defensive Defenseman at the year-end banquet. She was named to ECAC Hockey and the Ivy League’s First Teams, and she was a nominee for the Patty Kazmaier Award for the second consecutive year. Rougeau twice scored three points in a game during her junior season, notching three points against Syracuse on Nov. 1 and three days earlier against Brown on Oct. 29. In the Syracuse game, she recorded three assists. She scored a goal in the games against Yale on Oct. 28 and also against Brown on Oct. 29. With five goals and 20 assists, she is the team’s second-best scoring defenseman, but she always seems to be on the ice for goals and is third in ECAC Hockey with a +43 rating. The biggest moment of her season and possibly her career came in the NCAA Quarterfinals against Boston University when she scored the game-winning goal in triple overtime, beating three BU defensemen on the play.
Sophomore Season - 2010-11
Rougeau was named ECAC Hockey's top defenseman for her play as a sophomore, finishing the season with a +50 rating and repeated as a second-team All-America selection. She also earned a spot on the ECAC Hockey first team for the second season in a row. In addition to her defensive prowess, she ranks second in the nation in scoring among defensemen, and has 31 points in 33 games, collecting four goals and 27 assists. Rougeau has been a key part of the Big Red defense that led the nation in scoring defense and both the power play and penalty killing units that have been among the national leaders throughout the season. She had a seven-game point scoring streak earlier this season from Jan. 21 through Feb. 11, scoring 12 points over that span. Rougeau missed just two games this year when she was called into duty to represent Canada at the MLP Cup.
Freshman Season - 2009-10
Rougeau had a tremendous rookie season, being named a second-team All-America for her play on the year. She finished the season with 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points, good to rank her third in the nation in scoring by a defenseman and sixth in the country among all rookies. She was named first-team All-Ivy League and All-ECAC Hockey in addition to being selected as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Rougeau led all Big Red players in scoring during the post-season, recording 12 points in five games on two goals and 10 assists. She had an assist in both the national semifinal against Mercyhurst and in the national title game against Minnesota-Duluth. Rougeau had a pair of four-point games on the season, first scoring a pair of goals and two assists against Colgate on Jan. 23, then duplicating those numbers in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal matchup with the Raiders on Feb. 27. She appeared in 33 games on the year, missing three contests while representing Canada in the MLP Cup in Ravensburg, Germany, winning a gold medal with the Canadian U22 team.
Before Cornell
Rougeau was an assistant captain with Dawson College in 2008-09 and spent part of the season with the Canadian U-22 team. She was captain of the Canadian U18 national team in 2007-08 and was named to the collegiate league all-star team in 2007-08 and 2008-09. She helped Dawson College to a league title and a spot in the provincial finals in 2008-09.
Personal
Lauriane Rougeau is the daughter of Pierre Rougeau and Monic Levasseur and has two older sisters. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
