Career Stats
As a senior
O'Neil was a mainstay of the Cornell defense in 2012, starting all 16 games for the Big Red. During her time on the field, she earned 19 ground balls, seven draw controls and 17 caused turnovers. Her caused turnover numbers were good for second on the team, and she had a season-high four draw controls against Yale on April 21.
As a junior
O'Neil started all 14 games for the Big Red while playing in the midfield and on defense. She recorded 20 ground balls, 11 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. O'Neil posted a career-high four ground balls in wins over Colgate and Yale. She won three draws, two ground balls and caused a turnover against the Crimson. O'Neil won at least one ground ball in 13 of the 14 contests during the season.
As a sophomore
O'Neil saw playing time in nine contests as a reserve in 2010, winning three ground balls and a draw. She had her best game against North Carolina, winning two ground balls and a draw against the nationally ranked Tar Heels.
As a freshman
O'Neil played in six contests as a freshman reserve in 2009. She was credited with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control in those games. O'Neil had a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover against both LeMoyne and Harvard. She made her collegiate debut against Hofstra.
At Fayetteville-Manlius HS
A two-year letter winner at Fayetteville-Manlius HS, O’Neil was a third-team all-league selection as a senior and earned U.S. Lacrosse Scholastic All-America honors. O’Neil helped her team to a sectional runner-up finish in her final season as a starter. A league scholar-athlete in each of her two varsity seasons, O’Neil also lettered in track and field and field hockey.
Personal
Alison Mackenzie O’Neil is the daughter of Scott and Christine O’Neil and has a younger brother and sister. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her mother played both field hockey and lacrosse at Cornell, while her father was a two-time All-Ivy and All-East wrestler and team captain for the Big Red. Her younger brother Mike is a current member of the Big Red men's lacrosse team. One uncle, Geoff Hall, played lacrosse at Cornell, while another, Shawn O’Neil, wrestled on East Hill.Both her grandfather (Tom Hall, lacrosse at Cortland) and uncle (Jack O’Neil, wrestling at Rider) also were collegiate athletes.
