Biography


At Cornell 
Junior (2012-13): Long stared all but one game during her junior season and ranked fourth on the team in minutes played (28.5 per contest). She ranked sixth on the team and 29th in the conference with 6.0 points per game. Long also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. Her 2.2 assists per contest ranked 13th in the Ivy League. Long ranked first on the team and 13th in the conference in 3-point shooting percentage (.309) and was second on the team and 12th in the conference with 1.2 treys per game. Long scored in double-figures six times during the year, four of which came against Ivy League opponents, and led the team in rebounding twice, including a career-high eight caroms at No. 20 Texas. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from 3-point range to lead Cornell with a season-high 18 points at Brown on March 1. She also went 4-for-5 from 3-point range and finished with 14 points, two assists, two steals and a career-high three blocks vs. Columbia on Jan. 13. 

Sophomore (2011-12): Long saw action in all 28 games, averaging 13.8 minutes per contest. She finished the season averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. As the team’s back-up point guard, she also handed out 36 assists (1.3 per game). Long’s two made free throws with :14 to play secured Cornell’s 59-56 victory over Colgate. She finished with nine points, four assists and three rebounds against the Raiders. Long also had a solid game with seven points, three rebounds and three assists in the win against Brown. She led the team in rebounding once on the season, with a season-high six caroms at Longwood.

Freshman (2010-11): Long had a brilliant rookie campaign, playing all 28 games, making 21 starts and averaging more than 30 minutes per contest. She finished the season ranked third on the team with 7.2 points per game and sixth in the Ivy League with 2.96 assists per game. One of the top 3-point shooters on the team, she connected on .311 from beyond the arc, making 33-of-106 attempts. Long led the team in scoring six times on the season and registered double-digit points on eight occasions, including a career-high 20 points in her first-ever Ivy League contest at Columbia on Jan. 15. She also registered career highs with eight rebounds at Colgate and seven assists vs. Harvard (Feb. 18). Long was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Feb. 28 after leading the Big Red to a 57-51 victory over Penn with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

At Norwich Free Academy
Long lettered four times at Norwich Free Academy, serving as team captain as a senior. During her prep career, the Wildcats won back-to-back state championships (2008-09, 2009-10) as well as three conference tournament championships and four league championships. Long was a three-time ECC Large first-team selection and was selected to the ECC all-tournament team as a junior. As a senior, she was named all-area and academic all-state. Long also lettered four times in soccer.

Personal
Stephanie Ann Long is the daughter of Melanie and Dennis Long and she has two older sisters. Her father Dennis played basketball for three seasons at UConn. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
