Biography

Senior Season - 2010-11
A true two-way forward, Overguard, who was an assistant captain as a senior, was named the ECAC Hockey co-Defensive Forward of the Year for her efforts on both ends of the ice. She set a career best with 27 points this season, and continued to contribute in the clutch. She has scored two game-winning goals this season, including the overtime winner against Rensselaer in game one of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals, and assisted on eight other game-winning goals. She had a huge game in the Big Red’s 3-0 victory against Mercyhurst on Jan. 18, potting a pair of goals in that contest in the midst of an eight-game point-scoring streak. Overguard scored the only Cornell goal in the loss to Boston University in the national semifinals. She appeared in 32 games as a senior to move her career total to 127, the most ever by a Cornell women’s hockey player.

Junior Season - 2009-10
Overguard scored 22 points on the season, scoring 13 goals and nine assists while appearing in 34 contests. She had four points in the three NCAA tournament games, scoring a short-handed goal in the win at Harvard to advance to the Final Four before potting a goal and adding an assist in the national semifinal victory against Mercyhurst. In the national championship game, she added an assist in the contest. Overguard showed a flair for the dramatic, scoring a pair of late-game goals to force ties, with the first coming against Harvard on Jan. 15, scoring with 4.4 seconds left in regulation to salvage the tie. Her second came two weeks later against St. Lawrence, scoring late in a 2-2 draw. She had four multi-point games on the season, including picking up three assists in the win at Union on Nov. 6.

Sophomore Season - 2008-09
Overguard continued to be a key contributor for the Big Red, pouring in 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists while playing in all 31 games on the year. She had five multi-point games on the season, including picking up two assists in the season opener at Vermont on Oct. 24. Overguard also had two assists on Nov. 7 against Princeton and a goal and two assists on Jan. 11 at Colgate. Overguard also dropped in a goal and an assist on Jan. 24 in a 6-0 win at Brown. Of her seven goals on the year, three of them came on the power play, while two goals were game-winners.

Freshman Season - 2007-08
In her first season with the Big Red, Overguard finished fourth on the team in assists with 15 and fifth in points with 21. In her first collegiate game against Vermont, she notched two assists, including one on the game-winner, in a 3-0 victory. She followed that up the next night with the game-winning goal against the Catamounts. For the season, Overguard had seven multi-point performances, including a two goal and one assist outing in Cornell’s 6-2 victory over Niagara on Nov. 3.

Before Cornell
Overguard was an assistant captain for Team Alberta at the Canada Winter Games and was a member of the provincial championship team and the western championship runner-up in 2005. Overguard was also a two-time assistant captain for the Red Deer Chiefs. Overguard also ran cross country and track and was a member of the badminton, baseball and volleyball teams at Warner HS.

Personal
Karlee Nichole Overguard is the daughter of Dennis and Joanne Overguard. She has an older brother and sister, and her twin sister Amber also plays ice hockey for Cornell.
