Biography

As a senior
Hager started all 49 games at first base, leading the team with 15 doubles en route to All-Ivy League Honorable Mention. His career total of 40 doubles is second in program history. ... Hager was instrumental in helping Cornell win the Ivy League title in May. He was 4-for-12 (.333) with a pair of doubles and three RBI over the three-game set with Dartmouth. ... His 150 career starts rank fifth in program history. ... Hager named to the College Sports Information Directors Association’s Academic All-District 1 Baseball Team in May.

As a junior
Hager batted .266 with eight doubles, two triples, four home runs and 15 RBI while starting 39 games for the Big Red in 2011. He ranked second on the team in runs scored (26) and was hit by a team-high 10 pitches with 15 walks, second on the squad. Both numbers helped push his on-base percentage to .383, third among regulars. He started games at first and third base, as well as at designated hitter. Hager posted eight multi-hit games, including a 3-for-5 day with a home runs and two RBI at Columbia.

As a sophomore
Hager appeared in 38 games on the season, posting a .278 batting average in his first season as Cornell's every-day third-baseman. He finished second on the team in runs scored (24) and tied with Mickey Brodsky for the team lead in doubles (13). Hager also posted 23 runs batted in, second on the team and three behind Brian Billigen's 26. Hager had 12 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games. He hit his only two home runs of the season in back-to-back games on April 4 against Harvard and two days later against Binghamton. In the game against Binghamton on April 6, he went 3-for-7 with three runs driven in and one scored.

As a freshman
Hager saw extensive playing time as a freshman, spending time at first base, third base and designated hitter. He finished the season batting .333, appearing in 26 games and starting in 24 of those. He slugged four home runs in 78 at-bats on the year, while also recording four doubles, 14 runs scored and 15 driven in. Hager's biggest hit on the season came in the eighth inning of the final game of a four-game series against Princeton. With the Big Red trailing, 3-2, in a must-win game to force a tiebreaker playoff, Hager slammed a two-run home run to left field to lift Cornell to a 4-3 victory. He had four multi-hit games on the season, with the first coming as a 2-for-4 outing with a run scored and three runs driven in - including his first career home run - on March 21 at Sacramento State. He also drove in three in game two of the Ivy League Championship Series at Dartmouth, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a double and a home run. 

Prior to Cornell
Hager was a first-team all-county selection his senior year at Delbarton while also twice earning all-conference and all-area honors. As a senior, he picked up the team's most valuable position player award after leading the team in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. While serving as team captain as a senior, he helped to lead the team to the Morris County Championship for the first time in 21 years. Hager was also awarded the Coach Harold Stillwell Award, an award epitomizing the attributes of "The Delbarton Baseball Player" as a junior, and earned three letters in baseball.

Frank Joseph Hager is the son of Frank Sr. and Kathy Hager, and he has an older sister, four younger sisters and two younger brothers. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
