Biography

Senior Season — 2014
Plantier started 38 of the Big Red's 39 games at first base, ranking fourth among qualifying batters with a .256 average by season's end. He was particularly hot in March, when he had a pair of three-hit games to complement a 4-for-6 outing March 15 at James Madison. His 34 hits and .342 on-base percentage for the season were both career-highs.

Junior Season — 2013
Plantier settled in as the Big Red's everyday first baseman and was one of just three players on the team to appeear in all 40 games. He ranked second on the team with three home runs, including two in the final week at Binghamton and at Princeton. He led the team with 24 RBIs, including six games with multiple RBIs. He had a pair of three-hit games during a six-game hitting streak in March, driving in nine runs over the same span.

Sophomore Season — 2012
Plantier played in 16 games, including six starts, at both first base and designated hitter. He drove in the winning run on an extra-inning sacrifice fly on April 14 against Columbia. Plantier also had a pinch-hit two-run single with the bases loaded and two out in a March 4 win at Maryland-Eastern Shore. His pinch-hitting prowess continued with a double in the Big Red’s win March 17 at Delaware State.

Freshman Season — 2011
As a freshman in 2011, Plantier batted .194 with two triples and a home run in 23 contests with 18 starts. He drove in seven runs and scored 13 times. He primarily saw time at first base and in the outfield. Plantier collected his first career hit in the season opener against Rider and was 2-for-4 with his first career home run a week later against Temple. He was 1-for-4 with a two-run triple at Columbia.

Prior to Cornell
Plantier helped his team to a berth in the state semifinals in 2009 and was named first-team all-region as a senior in 2010. He also was selected to play in the 5AII all-star game following his senior season. He finished his high school season with a .375 batting average and 10 home runs, driving in 32 runs on the season in 33 games.

Personal
Ryan Alan Plantier is the son of Phil and Jennifer Plantier and has a younger brother and a younger sister. His father played parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues and is currently a hitting coach in the Seattle Mariners organization. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
