Career Stats

As a senior
Kirk finished off her Cornell career by earning her second consecutive Second-Team All-Ivy selection after another terrific year in the midfield. Kirk was tied for fourth on the roster with 20 goals, and she added six assists to end the year with 26 points. Kirk also was second on the team with 27 ground balls and 35 draw controls. Her 14 caused turnovers was good for third on the roster. As she leaves Cornell, she is fifth all-time in school history with 100 draw controls.

As a junior
Kirk earned second-team All-Ivy accolades after developing into one of the conference's top two-way midfielders, ranking second on the team in goals (22) and third in points (25), while also posting 19 ground balls, 19 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. Each ranked among the best on the Big Red. The junior was credited with a pair of game-winning goals, both in Ivy League play, to top the conference charts. Kirk recorded hat tricks against Columbia and Dartmouth, adding an assist as part of a four-point game against the Big Green. She had a goal, assist, three ground balls and three draw controls in a double overtime win over Notre Dame.

As a sophomore
Kirk started all 15 contests for the Big Red, generating 18 goals and an assist to rank third on the team in points. Kirk ranked among the team leaders in draw controls (21), ground balls (13) and caused turnovers (8), while scoring multiple points in five different contests. She was outstanding in the win over Yale to guarantee Cornell a spot in the first-ever Ivy League tournament, scoring three goals with an assist and adding two ground balls and a draw. Kirk won four draws and scored a pair of goals against Loyola and caused three turnovers, won three ground balls and scored a goal in the regular season loss to Dartmouth.

As a freshman
Kirk started all 16 games in 2009 as a midfielder and was among the team leaders in ground balls (34), draw controls (26) and caused turnovers (14), while chipping in 12 goals and five assists for 17 points. Kirk scored three game-winning goals on the season, tied for the second-highest total in a season all-time at Cornell. She had a career-high three goals against Yale and added three ground balls against the Bulldogs. Kirk had two goals, including the game winner, an added an assist, three ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover in the win over Brown.  Kirk was also credited with game winners against Colgate and Rutgers. She had five multiple-point games on the year, but her best all-around effort may have come in a game against LeMoyne where she was held scoreless. Kirk had five draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers in the 11-5 victory. She had a goal, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and a draw control vs. Notre Dame.

At Archbishop Spaulding HS
A two-time U.S. Lacrosse Scholastic All-American at Archbishop Spalding HS, Kirk was a four-year starter. A first-team all-conference and all-county pick and a second-team all-metro selection as a senior captain, she posted 42 goals and 15 assists in her final campaign. She added 60 ground balls, 38 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers in earning her team’s MVP award. She was selected to play in the Mid-Atlantic national tournament as a sophomore and junior. Kirk had 22 goals and 10 assists as a junior and 16 goals and 18 assists as a sophomore. Following her sophomore season, she was selected to participate in the Washington, D.C. Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic. For her career, Kirk recorded 84 goals and 48 assists to go along with 149 ground balls and 96 draw controls. Kirk was team captain of the basketball team in her final season and also played for the school’s soccer and sailing programs.

Personal
Katherine Anne Kirk is the daughter of Ed and Linda Kirk and has an older brother and an older step-brother and step-sister. Her father and late mother, Diane, both sailed at Boston College, while her step-sister, Michelle DeChant, played lacrosse at Stanford. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
