Ledet was a two-time first-team all-state selection at running back at Edward Douglas White Catholic HS. He led the area with 1,699 rushing yards on 7.8 yards per carry with 23 touchdowns. The two-time all-region offensive MVP and team captain was selected to the Bayou Region All-Star Team. Ledet led his team to a district title and state semifinal finish as a junior and a district runner-up and state quarterfinal appearance as a senior. He was also named to the academic all-state team. He also competed in track and field and basketball. Ledet  was ranked as the 12th-best fullback in the high school ranks by ESPN Rise scouting.

Personal
Dylan James Ledet is the son of Albert and Beryl Ledet and has an older and younger brother. Four uncles and three cousins also played college football. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
