Senior Season — 2011-12
Collins became the latest in a long line of Cornell forwards to enjoy a breakout campaign in his fourth season on East Hill. Exclusively centering a line with freshmen Joel Lowry and John McCarron on the wings, Collins ranked second on the team with a career-high 13 goals and 26 points. ... He posted 15 points over a 13-game span between Dec. 30 and Feb. 11, then enjoyed a four-game point streak in the postseason. He scored the winning goal in a do-or-die game against Colgate in the third-place game of the ECAC Hockey Championship, helping the Big Red lock down an NCAA berth. Collins then assisted on both of the Big Red's regulation-time goals on March 24 in an NCAA Midwest Region semifinal victory over top-seeded Michigan. He also led the team with 394 faceoff wins. At the Big Red's postseason banquet, Collins was presented the Sam Woodside Award for overall career improvement by a senior. Shortly after the season, he signed an NHL contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets, posting a goal and four assists in eight games for the AHL Springfield Falcons.
Junior Season — 2010-11
Collins continued his development, posting career highs in points and assists while tying his career best in goals. He finished the season with seven goals and eight assists for 15 points while appearing in all 34 games on the year. Collins saw significant time on the Cornell power play, scoring the first three extra-man goals of his career during the season, while continuing his strong play on the penalty kill. There, he picked up a pair of short-handed goals, including one against Colgate on Jan. 22 and another on Feb. 4 against Clarkson. Collins scored a power-play goal in the game against Colgate on Nov. 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., a goal that turned out to be the game-winner. He later added power play goals at Princeton on Jan. 7 and again on Feb. 25 at Brown.
Sophomore Season - 2009-10
Collins took another step toward becoming one of the top power forwards in the league, scoring seven goals and adding three assists while appearing in all 34 games. He scored the game-winning goal in Cornell's 5-2 victory against New Hampshire on Jan. 3, and added an empty-net goal in the win against Union on Feb. 26. Collins had one multi-point game on the season, picking up a goal and an assist in the win against Brown on Nov. 14. Collins finished the season +3 and had 12 minutes in penalties.
Freshman Season - 2008-09
Collins had a steady freshman season, appearing in 33 games as a rookie and tallying six points on three goals and three assists. He scored the Big Red's only goal in the NCAA Midwest Regional Final against Bemidji State, and tallied his first multi-point game of his career on Jan. 24 against Brown, scoring a goal and adding an assist. He scored his first collegiate point with a goal on Jan. 16 at Union.

Before Cornell
Collins, a seventh-round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, was a second-team MJHL All-Star following the 2007-08 season that also saw him win the league’s Lorne Lyndon Trophy, presented to the player best combining ability and sportsmanship. Collins finished second in the league in scoring, tallying 115 points in 60 games on 51 goals and 64 assists. He was selected to the league’s all-star game, where he scored four goals to be named the player of the game. On the year, he posted 21 power-play goals and four short-handed goals, ranking him second and tied for first, respectively.
Personal
Sean Brendan Collins is the son of John and Brenda Collins, and he has an older brother. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
